VBA Dunkan-Doo

Kate Fenner - Tuesday, October 29, 2013

G'day, I'm Dunkan-Doo (Dunk or DD to my mates).

I am a yearling Brumby gelding. I was born at Brumbys Run in Victoria after my mum was passively trapped in Long Plain, Kosciuszko National Park.

So, what am I doing here? Good question.

As I understand it (and I could be wrong because I'm just a baby), I'm the bleeding babysitter! Can it be true? These good looks and charming personality all going to waste? No, something must be done.

The story so far:

A couple of weeks ago a few mates and I were put in a paddock with TJ. I felt sorry for the Big Fella because he was such a scaredy-cat. Someone might have warned me that my compassion would lead me to a ten hour road trip with my new friend!

So, here I am. In the round pen at Kangadoo - being ignored!

You see? Really, it's not on. Things are going to have to change around here.

And it's not just that. He can't do anything without me! Really! I had to hold his tail all the way here in the float, he won't touch the hay until I've tried it and I even had to eat the hand picked grass before he would. Gosh, and they call me the baby!

Pretty soon all the lights will be shining on ME! Watch this space.

Oh yes, I have plans - BIG plans!

And, as soon as I can get out of here I am going to live with these blokes. They have a LOT of fun!

Dear Dunkan-Doo,

I understand your trauma. However, I have a couple of things to point out. First, the lady in the funny hat and jodhpurs ... well, she fills her ute with hay every night, which means you want to be on her good side. Second, the stables are FULL of hay. Believe me, my horse has worked very hard to steal it in the past. Your job is to work equally hard so you're allowed into those stables or next to that ute!
