I am extremely happy to announce that I have been selected to take part in the inaugural Australian Brumby Challenge.
The Challenge will see trainers from around Australia working with these wonderful horses for a period of 100 days and then returning to Beaufort (The Victorian Brumby Association) for a competition and an auction of the trained horses.
The horses fall into two categories: 1) Four years and over to be started under saddle and 2) Yearlings to be trained in ground work and general handling. Those of you that know me will have guessed that I couldn't resist taking one from each category!
Collection day is this Saturday (26th October 2013) and the final competition will be held back at the Victorian Equestrian Centre at Upper Beaconsfield on the 2nd of February 2014. Remember that in order to bid on a Brumby you must first be pre-registered to ensure that they go to the best of homes (this can be done with the Victorian Brumby Association).
I will be leaving for Victoria with my newly remodelled float (to accommodate the horses) on Friday. Regular blog posts detailing progress can be found here throughout the competition. If you would also like to follow their progress on FaceBook do join me there (Kate Fenner) and at the Kandoo Equine FaceBook page.
I will post photos on Saturday morning (to Facebook as I will be driving) as soon as I know which horses will be coming home to Goulburn.
